YourWritersWorkshop is an online community of writers, with 521 active Review and Writing members, that will help you improve your writing skills through peer review. Your work will be critiqued in exchange for critiquing the work of others, both of which are invaluable ways to improve your writing.

You retain all rights to your work and choose your own level of participation. The more you put in, the more you'll get out of it.

There are no special plug-ins, software or email programs required. Your Writers Workshop is live online and does not rely on any email service.

As a Writing member, you may post your own content and read and review content of other members. Your membership comes with one free posting in each category; novel, short story and poetry. You can earn more posting coins by reviewing other members' content.

The process of reading and reviewing the work of other writers is an
invaluable tool in developing and refining your writing skills.

Earning Posting Coins

• Earn coins by reviewing other members' content of the same type of work you'd like to post. Example: review poetry to earn poetry posting coins.
• There are two types of reviews.
  
  
  1. Quick review - great for sending a few words of encouragement to the author
     
     
     • You will not earn any posting coins
     • Your review is limited to 20 words
     • You may not award thumbs up
  2. Full review - great for sending an in-depth review to the author
     
     
     • You will earn up to 3 copper posting coins for reviewing a poem
     • You will earn up to 9 copper posting coins for reviewing a short story or novel chapter
     • Your review must be at least 35 words for a poem, 75 words for a short story or novel chapter.
     • You may choose to award thumbs up
          * If you award thumbs up, you will earn 2/3 less coins.
       
       Note: In order for 'thumbs up' to maintain its value, the quantity rewarded must be limited. Therefore, you forfeit most of your earnings in order to award an author 'thumbs up'.

Posting Content

The cost to post is:
      7 coins for a poem
      21 coins for a short story
      21 coins for a novel chapter

You may post your content in sections of 3500 words max. Sections may consist of short stories, poetry, or novel chapters in whole or part. To make it easier for reviewers, we recommend limiting your posted sections to 2000 words. This will make reviewing more manageable for busy people... everyone.

Editing Content

There is no cost to edit your content. You may edit as often as you wish.

However, each member may only review content one time. So if you wish to receive reviews from members who already reviewed the first draft, you must post the edited version as new content. The standard posting fees apply as noted above under Posting Content.

Reviewing Content

Choose for yourself which content you will read and review. You may only give one review per posted content, either a quick review or a full review as described above.

Rankings

We understand it's nice to know where you stand in the line-up of your peers. That's why we created a ranking system based on 'thumbs up'. Each time a member awards your content with thumbs up, it is added to both your content and to you, as the author. All ranking lists display according to the total number of 'thumbs up' received. Novel rankings are based on the total 'thumbs up' received for all chapters combined. The author ranking list displays all authors according to the total number of 'thumbs up' received for all their content combined.
